Frequently Asked Questions
-
Direct Care is a healthcare model that allows patients to pay healthcare professionals directly for their services, instead of involving a third-party payer.
Direct Care practices offer transparent pricing through memberships or flat fees, depending on the medical specialty and the needs of the patient populations they treat.
By eliminating the complexities of the traditional insurance-based billing system, health care professionals can spend more quality time with their patients and focus on achieving outcomes that are meaningful to each individual patient.
At Neuro Rehab Collaborative, we follow the Direct Care model, which means that you will always know exactly what you're paying for and what you're getting in return, without any hidden costs.
This model enables our team to provide more personalized and effective rehabilitation experiences, as we can dedicate more focused time to each patient's care.

Neurological rehabilitation is a specialized type of therapy designed to help people improve movement, strength, balance, coordination, cognition, communication, and independence after a neurological injury or diagnosis. It is commonly used for conditions such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, concussion, and other disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, or nervous system.
The goal of neurological rehabilitation is to help the nervous system adapt and improve function through targeted, repetitive, and task-specific training that promotes neuroplasticity—the brain and body’s ability to reorganize and form new connections. Treatment is individualized and may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy depending on the person’s needs and goals.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, neurological rehabilitation focuses on helping people regain meaningful function in daily life, such as walking, dressing, speaking, working, and participating in the activities that matter most.
-
We provide one-on-one care for 60 minutes, we have exclusive certifications and experience in working with those who have neurological conditions, we can offer community-based rehabilitation, and a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach that has a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician, Driving Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Counseling, and Fitness Training all in one space.

Yes. While recovery is often fastest during the first months after a neurological injury or diagnosis, research shows that the nervous system can continue to adapt and change throughout life. This ability, known as neuroplasticity, means that improvements in strength, mobility, balance, coordination, function, and independence can still occur years after a stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, or diagnosis of Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis.
Many people are told they have "plateaued" when they leave traditional therapy, but a plateau often means progress has slowed—not that improvement is impossible. With the right combination of skilled therapy, targeted exercise, task-specific training, and consistency, individuals can continue working toward meaningful goals long after their initial diagnosis.
At Neuro Rehab Collaborative, we regularly work with people who are months, years, or even decades beyond their diagnosis and are looking to improve walking, balance, arm function, endurance, daily activities, confidence, and overall quality of life. Every person is different, but it is never too late to explore what further progress may be possible.
The better question isn't "Is it too late?"—it's "What goals are still important to you, and what is the best path to help you achieve them?"

A Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician, also known as a physiatrist, specializes in helping people improve function, mobility, and quality of life after a neurological injury or diagnosis. They commonly work with individuals living with stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, brain injury, spinal cord injury, chronic pain, and other conditions that affect daily function.
Unlike many specialists who focus on a specific diagnosis, PM&R physicians take a whole-person approach to rehabilitation. They work closely with therapists and other healthcare providers to develop personalized treatment plans, manage symptoms, and help patients achieve their goals. Their focus is not just on treating a condition, but on helping people live as independently and fully as possible.
If mobility limitations, pain, weakness, balance problems, or other physical challenges are affecting your quality of life, a PM&R physician can help identify the underlying issues and create a comprehensive plan to improve your function and independence.

Driving rehabilitation helps individuals determine whether they can safely return to driving after a neurological injury, illness, or medical condition. A driving rehabilitation evaluation assesses the physical, visual, cognitive, and reaction-time skills needed for safe driving.
People with stroke, brain injury, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, concussion, and other neurological conditions may benefit from a driving evaluation. Recommendations may include adaptive equipment, additional training, or strategies to help maximize safety and independence.
Our occupational therapist works closely with vehicle mobility specialists to identify and implement adaptive driving equipment when needed. Together, they help individuals maximize safety, independence, and confidence behind the wheel.

PWR!Moves and LSVT BIG are both evidence-based exercise approaches designed for individuals with Parkinson's disease and focus on improving movement quality and reducing bradykinesia through large-amplitude movement training.
LSVT BIG is a highly structured, standardized protocol that emphasizes repetitive practice of high-amplitude movements, typically delivered in a set format over a defined treatment period.
PWR!Moves also uses large-amplitude movement as a foundation, but expands beyond repetition to train a broader range of motor skills, including posture, axial mobility, balance reactions, transitions, coordination, and dual-task functional activities. It is designed to be more adaptable across disease stages and more easily integrated into real-world movements and long-term exercise programming.
At Neuro Rehab Collaborative, therapists use PWR!Moves principles to target functional mobility in meaningful daily tasks—such as turning, reaching, walking, and transferring—so improvements carry over more directly into independence at home and in the community.
